Hi, I’m Jen.
I’m a 32 year old mama of 2 that decided to take a leap of faith and take on running her business full time. I’ve learned so much since going full-time “mom boss”, and many of my upcoming posts will likely include lots of interesting topics related to this fairly recent life change.
The thing is, ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, run my own business, and make a difference in the world (millennial alert…). And when I say little, I mean I remember drafting up a full on floor plan and business plan for a dude ranch bed and breakfast when I was around 4 or 5… well, about as “business plan” like as you can get at 5 years old, but you get the idea.
So, as a result, I truly believe that the entrepreneurial bug is something you’re born with. It’s part of who you are and no matter how much you fight it, you really can’t run away from the fact that everytime someone says to you, “You know what we should do?? We should start a business doing xyz”, your mind starts to run a little wild and your body starts to tingle with excitement. That is, until you realize your friend was just kidding… wah wah.
One day, about two years ago, I was going through some personal development training (a.k.a food for the entrepreneurial bug I was born with), and I texted a handful of friends asking them, “if you could describe me in 3 words, what would they be?”. Common responses ranged from ‘passionate’, to ‘kind’, to ‘nice’… all the fairly normal words you would think of when doing an exercise like this… but the one that everyone consistently said was, ‘driven’… and along with some thought, strategizing, and overanalyzing, that became my superhero alter ego – The Driven Mama. But, given I don’t have any superpowers (that I can tell you about… muahaha), I landed on making it my business name instead.
However, it would be unfair for me to say, “I am the driven mama. No one is as driven as I am”, because the truth is, there are tons of ‘driven mamas’ out there. Some that are probably even more driven than I am. So, my goal is to make Driven Mama into more than just a business name, it’s the beginning of my vision. A vision to help other driven mamas break free from their “mom-fog” induced lives and come together to support each other in our passions.
So, whether you want to be the best SAHM ever, rock your corporate job while being an awesomely driven mama, or follow your dreams and start your own business, you can! And I’ll be right here along the way to guide you and cheer you on.
To all my driven mamas out there, we can.
Talk soon,
Jen
