Tell Us About Yourself

Hi! I’m Jennifer McGurk, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and also a Certified Eating Disorders Registered Dietitian and Clinical Supervisor and business coach to other dietitians. I am on a mission to help my clients find peace with food through intuitive eating and eating disorder recovery. I also help healthcare professionals grow their businesses to make a bigger impact in this world.

What are you insanely passionate about?

My kids! I have 2 boys, Connor and Aidan, and being able to balance motherhood and growing a business has been such a privilege!

Tell us About Yours.

I time map almost everything!!! (Also perfect schedules always get ruined by kids but that’s the beauty of being flexible) I see clients on Mondays and Tuesdays so I’m always in the office those days focusing on client appointments and admin tasks related to clients. I save Wednesdays for meetings and supervision appointments with other dietitians and either work from home or from my office. I am home on Thursdays and Fridays with the kids but if I have a big project or something I’m working on I’ll typically get childcare for one of those days.

Let's Talk about Self-Care...

How do you define "self-care" in your life?

To me self-care is support. It’s knowing when you need more of whatever is important to you, and arranging your calendar to reflect that. It’s taking time to show up for the things that matter (whether it’s a mani/pedi or a therapy appointment or date night). It’s taking care of the people that need you the most but also taking care of yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually.

What are your favorite self-care activities?

I try to get enough sleep everyday and also try to workout at least 3-4 times/week. Each month I try to plan at least 1 date night with my husband and a girls night with my friends.

How do you find balance in your life?

For me it’s about finding mentors and other people who are doing the things you want to do! They always have tips and tricks for how to balance everything. I’ve also learned so much about boundaries from my own mentors.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Watching my kids get excited about the most simple things in life: writing his name, blowing bubbles, dancing, singing, and playing sports. It reminds me about what’s important!

How do you make your kids part of your "Driven Mama Life"?

I love talking to them about my work and what it means to be a dietitian. I’ve already started talking to them about intuitive eating and listening to their bodies to make decisions about food.

Do you Ever experience "mom-guilt"?

Of Course

How do you Deal with it?

If you feel guilty about something ask yourself if you’re aligned with your values.

Our mamas are always asking for family-friendly recipes. What's your favorite one?

This time of year I love burgers on the grill with corn on the cob and grilled veggies!

Yes I have a team for work and life. My marketing team and mastermind group for work, and babysitters for life!

WHat is Your best piece of advice to the driven mama reading this right now?

It’s okay to not have it all figured out in the beginning.

Reading a good book!

What is one thing making you so happy right now?

I feel like I’m meeting so many new people lately. It’s so much fun to network and make connections!

She provides individual clinical supervision to other dietitians in the field of eating disorders, as well as business coaching to healthcare professionals in private practice.
