Tell Us About Yourself

I’m a mom of two boys, Leo (5) and Max (3), who are full of energy and very into animals, dinosaurs, and LEGOs right now. Growing up with sisters, it’s been fun to have boys! I also run Well Connected Twin Cities, a local guide to holistic wellness resources, and I do some freelance consulting work to support small business owners in the wellness space.

What are you insanely passionate about?

Over the years I’ve become very passionate about a holistic approach to health and wellness, and I’d love to be part of the change as our culture moves forward into this new way of thinking. Through my work with Well Connected Twin Cities, I’ve met so many smart, talented, and compassionate healers. I’m here to help more people discover them, and I love being the business brain that many of them need to help amplify their efforts.

Our mamas love to hear about Daily Routines.
Tell us About Yours.

I love getting up before my kids to meditate, set intentions for my day, and drink a big glass of water to rehydrate. My husband makes us all breakfast, and I usually hang out with the boys or take a shower if it’s time to finally wash my hair. We have the boys in about 20 hours of preschool per week, so I work for about 3 hours every morning, and I get a few afternoons a week as well. The rest of the time I’m hanging with the kids, running errands, and trying to stay present for everything. As a business owner, it’s easy to let your mind wander or try to get work done while you’re with your kids (and I definitely do that) but I feel so much better when I focus on enjoying where I am and not letting myself be in two (or five) places at once, mentally. I usually get out for an evening class or an event a couple times a week, and I teach yoga on Sunday mornings. My husband gets up with the kids on Saturday mornings so I can sleep in a little, and he usually takes them out somewhere so I get a nice quiet morning to myself. He gets to sleep in on Sundays before I leave to go teach.

Let's Talk about Self-Care...

How do you define "self-care" in your life?

It’s simply asking myself what I need more of. What do I need today? And planning ahead to make sure I have the food I want to eat, that’s a big one! I get hangry if I don’t eat enough.

What are your favorite self-care activities?

I try to get to at least one yoga or barre class a week (hopefully two). Staying hydrated and meal planning always makes me feel better (and saves me time!) And just staying connected with myself and how I’m feeling helps me fill in the activities I need to feel like myself.

How do you find balance in your life?

I don’t put too much pressure on myself and just let things flow. Staying present and appreciating where I am keeps me from feeling burnt out. Everyone has the same amount of time, and we all get to choose how we spend that time. So it just comes down to priorities. I also have an amazing husband who takes care of a lot of our shared “adulting” things. He folds all of the laundry (perfectly) cleans the kitchen each night, and cleans the floors 10 times as often as I do.

Let's Talk About Mom Life...

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

The sound of my kids giggling.

How do you make your kids part of your "Driven Mama Life"?

They know I’m passionate about what I do, but they also get to enjoy a lot of extra time with me right now. We’re soaking it up before my oldest starts Kindergarten next year.

Do you Ever experience "mom-guilt"?

Not Really

How do you Deal with it?

Just say no! No one is perfect. My dad told me once, “We all just try to do better than our parents did.” And you get to decide what “better” means to you. I love that!

Our mamas are always asking for family-friendly recipes. What's your favorite one?

How about your favorite way to stay active as a busy Mom?

Yoga and barre classes at Blooma!

Let's Talk About Your Driven Mama Life...

What is your favorite tool to help you manage a busy life?

Meal planning is important, but I just use my notes app and the whiteboard at home to put dinner up for all to see.

Sometimes we all need to get help at times. What do you delegate in your work and life?

My husband does a lot of household stuff. He’s way better at folding laundry, and he cleans the kitchen almost every night.

WHat is Your best piece of advice to the driven mama reading this right now?

Trust yourself! If Britney Spears can do it, so can you.

Let's Have a Little Fun...

If you had an extra 15-minutes in your day, what would you do with it?

Some extra time alone.

If you had an extra $5,000 to spend, how would you spend it?

A vacation! Probably somewhere warm.

What is one thing making you so happy right now?

I’m getting so excited for the holidays…each year it gets more and more fun with my kids.
